KimHock has more than 10 years of experience Malaysia’s film industry, walking through the era from Tape to Digital Media.
KimHock started as a Camera Assistant, eagerly learning everything he can from those he worked with. Through the long hours and with hands-on experience, KimHock was part of the lighting crew, played the role of audioman and as a Camera Operator learning to properly frame each shot and creating camera movements. His varied experience also lends to his appreciation of the whole production crew.
The experiences over the years definitely shape who KimHock is today in making artistic and technical decisions in all areas related to cameras, composition, lighting and audio, as a Director of Photography.
KimHock is always on a look-out to improve and deepen his knowledge. He likes sharing and exchanging views on equipment, shots and angles; he even likes reading manuals back to back! He loves watching movies and short films. His reviews of movies and films are mostly in appreciating and learning the technical and visual aesthetic brought on in the film.
When he finds time, you may find him on his bicycle on the road or off the beaten track taking long rides, exploring and pedaling away the everyday stresses of life. One of his hall of fame was his 20 hours 300KM bike challenge that he took on. Some say cyclists are suckers for punishment, but for KimHock nothing beats the satisfying feel of accomplishment at the end of a long ride.
